Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and other beverages according to recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other café equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Interact with customers in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, providing excellent service and building rapport.
- Accurately take customer orders and process payments using a POS system, managing cash and card transactions.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the café area, including tables, counters, seating, and equipment, adhering to hygiene standards.
- Monitor and restock inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and other supplies, communicating needs to management.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and food handling guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with the entire café team to ensure smooth and efficient operations during peak hours and quiet times.
- Provide exceptional customer service, anticipating needs, resolving concerns, and creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere for all guests.
- Assist with other duties as assigned to support overall café operations and maintain a high standard of service.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista or a strong, demonstrable passion for coffee and eagerness to learn.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in following drink recipes and presentation standards.
- Basic mathematical skills for accurate transaction processing and inventory management.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification in coffee preparation or hospitality.
- Knowledge of different coffee types, roasting profiles, and various brewing methods.
- Prior experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Fluency in local Nigerian languages in addition to English.
