Job Description
Access Bank is actively seeking a highly dedicated and vigilant Bank Security Guard for the Night Shift, with a specialized focus on building monitoring, to join our esteemed team at our Ogba, Ikeja branch. This pivotal role is paramount in maintaining the highest standards of safety and security for our banking premises, valuable assets, and personnel during non-business hours. As a night shift security guard, you will serve as the first line of defense, entrusted with proactive surveillance, effective deterrence of unauthorized access, and rapid, decisive response to any security breaches or emergencies that may arise. Your primary focus will encompass continuous monitoring of the building’s perimeter and interior, ensuring all sophisticated security systems are fully operational, and diligently maintaining an impregnable and secure environment. This critical position demands an individual possessing an exceptionally strong sense of responsibility, superior observational skills, and the ability to act with calm professionalism and decisiveness under pressure. You will play an indispensable role in safeguarding the bank’s vital resources and ensuring unparalleled peace of mind for both our valued customers and dedicated staff members.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and regular patrols of the bank premises, encompassing both interior and exterior areas, during the entire night shift to actively detect and effectively deter any suspicious activities or potential threats.
- Continuously monitor CCTV cameras and other advanced surveillance equipment for any signs of intrusion, theft, vandalism, or other potential security threats, reporting anomalies promptly.
- Ensure all designated entry and exit points are securely locked, properly sealed, and unauthorized access is rigorously prevented throughout the night.
- Respond promptly, efficiently, and effectively to all alarms, emergency situations, or any unusual occurrences, strictly adhering to established security protocols and procedures.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and comprehensive logs of all security-related incidents, routine patrols, and significant observations recorded during the shift.
- Periodically inspect and test all security equipment to ensure its full functionality and report any malfunctions, damages, or discrepancies immediately to the appropriate channels.
- Collaborate seamlessly with local law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and internal security teams when necessary to manage incidents or provide assistance.
- Rigorously enforce all bank security policies and procedures to ensure complete compliance and maintain a secure operational environment.
- Provide a consistent and highly visible security presence to proactively deter criminal activity and maintain order.
- Assist diligently in securing the premises at the close of business hours and ensure its optimal readiness for the subsequent day's opening.
- Complete incident reports accurately and concisely, detailing events, observations, and actions taken during the shift.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 18 months of proven experience in security services, preferably within a corporate or banking environment.
- Excellent observational and vigilance skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities for reporting and incident documentation.
- Demonstrated physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Ability to operate CCTV and other security monitoring equipment.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
- High level of integrity, reliability, and trustworthiness.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of relevant security certifications or training from recognized institutions.
- Previous experience in banking security or a similar high-security corporate setting.
- Familiarity with modern security systems and technologies.
- Military or paramilitary experience will be an added advantage.
