Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Auditing Officer to join our dynamic team within Akintola Williams Deloitte, Mararaba, Abuja office. As an Auditing Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and reliability of financial records and operational processes for our diverse client base. This professional position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact audit engagements, working with experienced professionals and leveraging state-of-the-art auditing methodologies and technologies. Your primary objective will be to execute audit plans, identify potential risks, assess internal controls, and provide clear, concise recommendations to enhance efficiency and financial transparency. You will be instrumental in preparing comprehensive audit reports, presenting findings to management, and collaborating with various stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute audit engagements from planning to completion in accordance with professional standards and firm methodologies.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of financial statements, transactions, and internal control systems to identify discrepancies, inefficiencies, or non-compliance.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate working papers and documentation to support audit findings.
  • Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management processes.
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations effectively to senior auditors and client management.
  • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive audit reports summarizing findings and suggested improvements.
  • Stay updated with changes in accounting standards, auditing pronouncements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of audit tasks and projects.
  • Support the development and mentoring of junior audit staff.
  • Participate in client meetings and build professional relationships.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS, GAAP) and auditing standards (ISA)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated integrity and commitment to ethical conduct

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership or progress towards professional certifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CPA
  • Experience with audit software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Familiarity with financial regulations in Nigeria
  • Prior experience in an accounting firm or a similar audit role
