Are you an experienced audit professional ready to take on a leadership role, driving high-quality assurance services for a diverse portfolio of clients? Ernst & Young LLP is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Audit Manager to join our growing team in San Francisco, specifically serving our prestigious clientele with offices and operations based in or around the vibrant Nob Hill area. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in managing and executing complex audit engagements, ensuring adherence to professional standards, and delivering exceptional client service.

As an Audit Manager, you will lead engagement teams, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior staff. Your responsibilities will span the entire audit lifecycle, from planning and risk assessment to execution, review, and final reporting. You will cultivate strong relationships with client management, acting as a trusted advisor and proactively identifying opportunities to add value beyond the audit. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple audit engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring compliance with professional standards (GAAP, GAAS, PCAOB) and firm policies.
  • Develop comprehensive audit plans, assess risks, and design effective audit procedures for complex areas.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior audit staff, providing constructive feedback and fostering their professional development.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with client management, acting as a primary point of contact and resolving audit-related queries.
  • Review audit workpapers, financial statements, and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Identify and communicate accounting and auditing issues to clients and engagement partners, proposing practical solutions.
  • Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently to ensure profitable and timely delivery.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments, regulatory changes, and new accounting pronouncements to advise clients effectively.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and firm-wide practice development activities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA certification (or actively pursuing with clear path to completion).
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in public accounting, with a focus on audit.
  • Proven experience managing and leading audit engagements and teams.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and PCAOB standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience auditing clients in technology, financial services, or real estate sectors.
  • Previous experience at a Big Four or large regional public accounting firm.
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation.
  • Experience with data analytics tools and advanced audit technologies.
