Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Associate to join our esteemed Global Advisory team (Investment Banking) in London. As an Associate, you will be deeply involved in every stage of a transaction, from initial client pitch and strategic analysis to due diligence, valuation, and execution. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain complex financial models for valuation (Discounted Cash Flow, Leveraged Buyout, Trading Comparables, Transaction Comparables) and scenario analysis.
- Prepare detailed pitch books, confidential information memoranda, management presentations, and other marketing materials for clients.
- Conduct extensive industry and company-specific research, identifying key trends, competitive landscapes, and potential strategic opportunities.
- Perform comprehensive due diligence on target companies, meticulously reviewing financial statements, legal documents, and business operations.
- Assist in the execution of M&A, divestiture, recapitalization, and capital raising transactions, ensuring smooth progression through various stages.
- Coordinate internal teams and external advisors (legal, accounting, regulatory) throughout the transaction lifecycle.
- Mentor and oversee the work of Analysts, providing guidance, training, and constructive feedback to foster their development.
- Maintain active communication with clients, addressing inquiries, providing updates, and building strong, trusted working relationships.
- Contribute to new business development efforts, identifying potential clients and market opportunities, and assisting in proposal generation.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of post-MBA or 4-5 years of pre-MBA experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate finance.
- Proven expertise in financial modeling, valuation methodologies (DCF, LBO, public comps, precedent transactions) and financial statement analysis.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, Capital IQ).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding, and high-pressure environment, both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, strong work ethic, and discretion when handling confidential information.
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related quantitative field from a reputable institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or MBA from a top-tier business school.
- CFA designation or significant progress towards its completion.
- Prior experience in a specific sector (e.g., Technology, Media & Telecom, Healthcare, Industrials, Financial Institutions Group) is a distinct advantage.
- Experience in the full transaction execution cycle, from origination to closing.
- Proficiency in a second major European language (e.g., French, German, Spanish).
