Key Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting-edge research in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and related fields.
- Design, develop, and implement novel AI algorithms and models to solve complex industrial problems.
- Apply advanced machine learning techniques to areas such as robotics, industrial automation, vision systems, predictive analytics, and energy optimization.
- Prototype, test, and validate AI solutions using real-world industrial data and scenarios.
- Collaborate with internal R&D teams, business units, and external academic partners to drive research projects from conception to implementation.
- Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the global scientific community.
- Actively participate in scientific discussions, workshops, and seminars, both internally and externally.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI/ML research and technology, identifying opportunities for their application within ABB.
- Contribute to the development of intellectual property through patent applications and technical disclosures.
Required Skills
- PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Proven experience in conducting research and developing AI/ML models.
- Strong programming skills in Python (with libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and/or C++.
- Solid theoretical understanding and practical experience with various machine learning algorithms (e.g., deep learning, reinforcement learning, transfer learning, computer vision, natural language processing).
- Experience working with large datasets and distributed computing environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postdoctoral research experience or equivalent industrial research experience.

- Proficiency in German is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Experience with simulation environments and digital twins.
