Ecodelta Aquacultura Lda is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Aquaculture Technician to join our dynamic team in Maputo. This pivotal role is essential for the daily operations and long-term success of our aquaculture farm. As an Aquaculture Technician, you will be on the front lines, directly contributing to the health, growth, and overall well-being of our aquatic stock. Your work will involve a broad spectrum of activities, from monitoring water quality parameters and managing feeding regimes to conducting routine health checks and maintaining facility infrastructure. This is a hands-on position that requires a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a genuine passion for marine and aquatic life. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily water quality testing and analysis (pH, oxygen, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate).
- Administer feed according to schedules and adjust rations based on fish growth and behavior.
- Monitor fish health, identify signs of stress or disease, and assist with treatment protocols.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tanks, ponds, filtration systems, and other equipment.
- Assist with fish handling, grading, counting, and harvesting operations.
- Maintain accurate records of fish growth, feed consumption, water quality, and stock movements.
- Ensure strict adherence to biosecurity protocols to prevent disease outbreaks.
- Operate and maintain specialized aquaculture equipment (e.g., aerators, pumps, feeders).
- Contribute to the implementation of sustainable aquaculture practices.
- Participate in farm infrastructure development and repairs as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in aquaculture operations or related agricultural fields.
- Strong understanding of water quality parameters and their impact on aquatic life.
- Ability to identify common fish diseases and parasites.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment operation and maintenance.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
- Physical fitness to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work outdoors.
