Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Agriculture Extension Officer to join our team in Bauchi, Bauchi State. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing technical assistance and training to farmers, promoting best agricultural practices, and contributing to the overall development of the agricultural sector in the region. This involves working closely with local farming communities, conducting field visits, and delivering workshops on various agricultural topics. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a deep understanding of modern farming techniques and agricultural challenges facing farmers in Bauchi State. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to improving crop yields, promoting sustainable farming practices, and strengthening the resilience of local agricultural systems. Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice and training to farmers on improved farming techniques, crop management, and pest control.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor crop performance and provide on-site support to farmers.
- Organize and deliver workshops and training programs on various agricultural topics, including soil management, irrigation, and post-harvest handling.
- Collect data on crop yields, pest infestations, and other agricultural factors to inform program planning and implementation.
- Prepare reports and presentations summarizing program activities and achievements.
- Collaborate with other government agencies and NGOs to implement agricultural development initiatives.
- Participate in capacity-building activities to improve the skills and knowledge of extension officers and farmers.

Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
- Proven experience in agricultural extension or a related field.
- Strong understanding of agricultural best practices and challenges in the Bauchi region.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to ride a motorbike and travel to rural areas.
