We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Aeronautical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Brisbane, Australia. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to critical defence projects, working on the design, development, analysis, and sustainment of advanced aerospace platforms. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability of complex aircraft systems, from conceptual design through to operational support. You will be involved in a variety of tasks including aerodynamic analysis, structural integrity assessments, propulsion system integration, flight test support, and compliance with stringent aviation regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed design and analysis of aircraft structures, components, and systems using advanced engineering tools.
- Conduct aerodynamic and performance analyses to optimize aircraft design and operational capabilities.
- Evaluate propulsion system performance and integration, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency.
- Develop and execute test plans, interpret flight test data, and support aircraft certification processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant aviation regulations, standards, and airworthiness requirements (e.g., CASA, ADF).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, maintenance, and project management to integrate engineering solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in root cause analysis of engineering issues and develop innovative solutions for aircraft sustainment and upgrades.
- Support proposal development and provide technical input for new business opportunities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an aeronautical engineering role.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks, NX) for design and modelling.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN) for structural analysis.
- Strong understanding of aerodynamic principles, aircraft performance, and flight mechanics.
- Knowledge of aviation regulations and airworthiness standards (e.g., MIL-SPECs, FAA, EASA, CASA, DAWR).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience with aircraft systems integration, avionics, or flight control systems.
- Familiarity with composite materials and advanced manufacturing processes.
- Project management experience or demonstrated ability to lead technical tasks.
- Hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
