The Chinatown Service Center (CSC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Adult Literacy Instructor to join our vibrant team in the heart of Los Angeles’ historic Chinatown. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging, learner-centered lesson plans and curricula for adult literacy and basic education classes.
- Deliver high-quality instruction in reading, writing, numeracy, and critical thinking skills to diverse adult learners in individual and small group settings.
- Assess student needs, progress, and learning styles, adapting teaching methods and materials accordingly.
- Create a supportive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment that fosters student engagement and success.
- Monitor and document student attendance, performance, and outcomes, providing regular reports as required.
- Collaborate with program coordinators and other staff to ensure program effectiveness and alignment with CSC's mission.
- Provide individualized support and mentorship to students, addressing their unique challenges and celebrating their achievements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of adult literacy best practices, resources, and instructional technologies.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and community outreach events.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in adult education or teaching literacy/ESL to adults.
