Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and meticulous Accounts Payable Specialist to join our dynamic finance team in Lagos. This pivotal role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our financial records and ensuring the smooth, timely, and accurate processing of all vendor invoices and payments. As an Accounts Payable Specialist at Access Bank Plc, you will be instrumental in managing the full accounts payable cycle, from invoice receipt and verification to payment processing and vendor reconciliation. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full cycle of accounts payable, including receiving, processing, and verifying invoices, expense reports, and other payment requests.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors, employees, and other third parties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Reconcile vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly to maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Prepare and process weekly/monthly payment runs, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and approved.
- Maintain accurate records and files of all accounts payable transactions, ensuring proper documentation for audit purposes.
- Collaborate with procurement and other departments to ensure accurate invoicing and resolve any procurement-related payment issues.
- Assist in month-end closing procedures related to accounts payable, including accruals and reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the implementation of best practices within the accounts payable function.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable or a related finance role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly within accounts payable.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record keeping.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume transactions efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for internal and external interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) are a plus.
- Experience working in a large corporate or banking environment.
- Familiarity with Nigerian financial regulations and tax compliance.
