Job Description

Millennium bim is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Entry-level Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in Maputo. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS and local regulations.
  • Perform daily general ledger reconciliations and verify the accuracy of financial data.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate record-keeping.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and accruals.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation for audit purposes.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Process and reconcile bank statements and other financial transactions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations and data flow.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to process improvements within the accounting department to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare various ad-hoc financial analyses and reports as required by senior accountants and management.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Excellent numerical aptitude and analytical skills.
  • High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English.
  • A proactive, eager-to-learn, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in Portuguese (verbal and written) is highly advantageous.
  • Prior internship or volunteer experience in a finance or accounting role within the banking sector.
  • Familiarity with major accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or local Mozambican systems).
  • Knowledge of Mozambican tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a capacity for critical thinking.
  • Demonstrated interest in the financial services industry and continuous professional development.
