Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Inventory Control Assistant to join our client’s bustling warehouse team in Sapele, Delta. This full-time, on-site position is crucial for maintaining accurate stock records, ensuring efficient warehouse operations, and supporting overall supply chain integrity. As an Inventory Control Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks ranging from tracking incoming and outgoing inventory to conducting regular stock counts and reconciling discrepancies. You will play a pivotal role in preventing stockouts, minimizing waste, and optimizing storage space. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, count, and verify incoming inventory against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Accurately record inventory movements (in, out, transfers) using manual and computerized systems.
- Perform regular cycle counts and full physical inventory counts as scheduled.
- Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Organize and maintain the warehouse layout to ensure optimal storage and easy access to products.
- Monitor stock levels and identify potential shortages or overstocks, reporting findings to management.
- Assist in preparing outgoing shipments, ensuring correct items and quantities are dispatched.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the warehouse.
- Generate inventory reports and provide data analysis to support decision-making.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform detailed and accurate work.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Strong mathematical skills for counting and calculations.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to lift and move packages up to 25kg and stand for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a warehouse, logistics, or inventory control role.
- Familiarity with inventory management software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- An Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a related field.
