This is an incredible opportunity for individuals with a genuine passion for visual storytelling and a strong desire to learn the ins and outs of professional photography. We understand that everyone starts somewhere, which is why this role is specifically designed for those with little to no prior professional experience. You’ll be mentored by experienced photographers, gaining invaluable hands-on training across various photographic disciplines, from portraiture and events to landscape and commercial shoots.

Your journey will begin with understanding the fundamentals of photographic equipment, lighting techniques, and set management. You will learn how a professional photoshoot is orchestrated, from initial client brief to final delivery. This role is far more than just carrying equipment; it’s an immersive apprenticeship where you’ll observe, assist, and eventually contribute significantly to projects. We are looking for someone who is not afraid to ask questions, takes initiative, and possesses a keen eye for detail. You’ll be working in diverse environments across Ngoma and potentially other parts of the Eastern Province, making every day a unique learning experience. If you’re reliable, punctual, and ready to commit to developing your skills within a supportive team, this is your chance to build a solid foundation for a successful career in photography. We celebrate creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to grow, offering a path to becoming a proficient photographer yourself.

  • Learn and practice basic camera settings, lens choices, and composition techniques under direct supervision.
  • Help with location scouting, ensuring suitable backdrops and logistical arrangements are in place for scheduled shoots.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling, organizing digital files, and basic post-production assistance like culling images.
  • Maintain a clean and organized studio or workspace, contributing to a professional and efficient environment.
  • Actively participate in learning sessions and seek feedback to continuously improve technical skills and creative eye.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed during equipment handling and on-location shoots.
  • Assist with client interaction and general support to ensure a smooth and positive experience.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry photographic equipment (up to 15-20 kg).
  • Proactive and positive attitude, with a keen eye for detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with personal photography projects or a hobbyist portfolio (even if informal).
  • Basic familiarity with photo editing software (e.g., Snapseed, free online editors).
  • A self-starter who demonstrates initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in diverse environments, both indoors and outdoors.

  • Direct mentorship from experienced professional photographers.
