Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Officer to join our dynamic team at Nuffield Health’s premier hospital in London. This is a pivotal role within our multi-disciplinary team, crucial for ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and clinical excellence across our various specialties. As a Medical Officer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day medical management of inpatients and outpatients, working collaboratively with consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals. You will play a vital role in patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and emergency response, providing expert medical support and ensuring seamless care pathways. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, examinations, and diagnostic procedures for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Formulate and implement effective treatment plans in consultation with consultant specialists, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, providing immediate care and initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date patient records and documentation, adhering to all clinical governance and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate proactively with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and their families regarding their condition, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and educational activities to foster continuous professional development and share knowledge.
  • Adhere strictly to Nuffield Health’s policies, protocols, and clinical guidelines, ensuring compliance with CQC and GMC standards.
  • Provide clinical cover and support across various specialties as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits to enhance patient care and service delivery.

Required Skills

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a Licence to Practise.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-graduate medical experience (or equivalent), including Foundation Year training.
  • Demonstrable experience in acute medicine and/or general surgery within a hospital setting.
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (or equivalent) valid and current.
  • Exceptional clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Strong ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate and comprehensive medical records.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a private hospital environment.
  • MRCP or equivalent postgraduate qualifications.
  • Special interest or experience in a particular medical or surgical specialty.
  • Leadership experience in a clinical setting.
