Job Description

Career.supersecrets is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic NGO Program Trainee to join a dynamic team dedicated to community development and humanitarian efforts in Funtua, Katsina. This entry-level position is an incredible opportunity for individuals passionate about making a tangible difference in society, particularly within the local context of Katsina State. As a Program Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience across various facets of NGO operations, from project planning and implementation to community engagement and administrative support. You will work closely with experienced program managers and field officers, learning best practices in non-profit management, community-based interventions, and impact assessment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist program staff in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of various community development projects.
  • Support the coordination of workshops, training sessions, and community outreach activities.
  • Help collect and compile data for program reports, M&E (Monitoring & Evaluation) activities, and proposals.
  • Participate in field visits to project sites, engaging with beneficiaries and local stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the program team, including scheduling, documentation, and procurement assistance.
  • Contribute to the development of communication materials and advocacy efforts.
  • Conduct basic research on community needs, best practices, and funding opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases related to program activities and beneficiaries.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, contributing ideas and feedback for program improvement.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hausa.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and independently.
  • Demonstrated passion for social impact and community development.
  • High level of integrity, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and a proactive approach to tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or HND in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer experience with an NGO or community-based organization.
  • Familiarity with the Funtua local context and community dynamics.
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles.
