Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lessons and educational activities.
- Provide individualized and small-group support to students, addressing diverse learning needs.
- Help maintain a positive, safe, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Prepare classroom materials, set up equipment, and organize learning resources.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, playtime, and school events.
- Support in monitoring student progress, behavior, and attendance, reporting to the lead teacher.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, parents, and the wider school community.
- Assist with administrative tasks as required, such as grading papers or managing records.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (A-level certificate preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Demonstrated passion for working with children and fostering their development
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to student interaction
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the guidance of a lead teacher
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office Suite, internet navigation)
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in Education, Early Childhood Development, or a related field
- Prior experience (even voluntary) in an educational setting or working with children
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda or French is an added advantage
- Familiarity with modern teaching aids and educational technology
