Job Description

Career.supersecrets is seeking a highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join the vibrant team at a reputable private school in Ngoma, Eastern Province. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lessons and educational activities.
  • Provide individualized and small-group support to students, addressing diverse learning needs.
  • Help maintain a positive, safe, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Prepare classroom materials, set up equipment, and organize learning resources.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, playtime, and school events.
  • Support in monitoring student progress, behavior, and attendance, reporting to the lead teacher.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, parents, and the wider school community.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as required, such as grading papers or managing records.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent (A-level certificate preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated passion for working with children and fostering their development
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to student interaction
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the guidance of a lead teacher
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office Suite, internet navigation)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma in Education, Early Childhood Development, or a related field
  • Prior experience (even voluntary) in an educational setting or working with children
  • Proficiency in Kinyarwanda or French is an added advantage
  • Familiarity with modern teaching aids and educational technology
