Job Description

Woolworths Group is seeking an experienced and strategic Supply Chain Manager to join our dynamic team in Sydney. This pivotal role is central to optimising the flow of products from suppliers to our vast network of stores and online channels, ensuring maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping our supply chain strategy, managing complex logistics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the entire supply chain ecosystem. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of supply chain operations, including procurement, inventory management, warehousing, and distribution. This role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of modern supply chain principles, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic supply chain initiatives to optimise efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
  • Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of supply chain professionals.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and logistics partners to secure favourable terms and ensure service quality.
  • Utilise data analytics to identify trends, forecast demand, and make informed decisions to improve supply chain performance.
  • Manage and mitigate supply chain risks, including disruptions, quality control issues, and compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects, leveraging technology and best practices to streamline processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, finance, and operations teams to align supply chain activities with business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for supply chain operations, ensuring cost-effective practices.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, preferably within a large retail or FMCG environment.
  • Proven track record of optimising supply chain processes and delivering cost savings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, BI tools).
  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or an MBA.
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM).
  • Experience with sustainable supply chain practices and initiatives.
  • Proficiency in advanced supply chain planning software (e.g., SAP SCM, Oracle SCM).
  • Experience in change management within a large organisational context.
