As a Freelance Tour Guide, you will be the face of our tours, responsible for creating an immersive, educational, and entertaining journey for every participant. You will design and execute engaging itineraries, share compelling narratives about Abuja’s landmarks, historical sites, cultural practices, and local life, all while ensuring the safety and satisfaction of your group. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging, informative, and entertaining guided tours of Abuja's key attractions, focusing on the history, culture, and significance of each site.
- Customize tour content and routes to meet the diverse interests and preferences of various client groups (e.g., historical, cultural, architectural, food-focused tours).
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants, adhering to all local regulations and safety protocols.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing questions, concerns, and special requests with professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Manage group dynamics effectively, fostering a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Abuja's current events, cultural landscape, and any changes to attractions or routes.
- Handle minor logistical challenges and unforeseen circumstances with resourcefulness and calm.
- Collect feedback from tour participants to continually improve tour quality and experiences.

Required Skills
- Proven experience as a tour guide or in a similar customer-facing role in the travel and tourism industry (minimum 12 months).
- Excellent command of English, both verbal and written, with exceptional public speaking and storytelling abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of Abuja's history, culture, landmarks, local customs, and contemporary life.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tours.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
- Physical stamina to lead walking tours and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, French) is a significant advantage.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- A degree or diploma in Tourism, Hospitality, History, Anthropology, or related fields.
- Previous experience designing custom tour itineraries.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (if tours involve driving).
