As a Recycling Sorter, your primary responsibility will be the manual separation and sorting of various recyclable materials on our sorting lines. This includes identifying different types of plastics, papers, metals, glass, and other waste fractions, ensuring they are correctly segregated according to strict quality standards and company guidelines. Key Responsibilities
- Manually sort and separate various recyclable materials (e.g., paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, metals) on a conveyor belt or designated sorting area.
- Identify and remove contaminants, hazardous materials, or non-recyclable items from the material stream.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation, contributing to the overall cleanliness and operational readiness of the sorting facility.
- Operate basic sorting equipment or machinery as instructed (e.g., balers, compactors) after receiving appropriate training and certification, if applicable.
- Perform routine quality control checks on sorted materials to ensure they meet specified standards for purity and market readiness.
- Collaborate effectively and respectfully with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient and productive sorting operations and achieve daily targets.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, process inefficiencies, or quality issues to supervisors promptly and accurately.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks, including standing, bending, reaching, and occasionally lifting for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to quickly and accurately differentiate between various material types and identify contaminants.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong, consistent work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of a diverse team in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
- Basic understanding of German language for safety instructions, operational procedures, and effective team communication.
- Commitment to diligently following all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a production, manufacturing, waste management, or similar industrial environment is a valuable asset but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with waste sorting processes, recycling industry standards, or basic material identification.
- Possession of a valid forklift operator's license (Staplerschein) is an advantage for potential future roles or broader site responsibilities.
- Enhanced verbal communication skills in German or additional languages for improved team integration.
