Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patrons with locating books, resources, and information, both in print and digital formats, providing friendly and helpful guidance.
  • Process new library materials accurately, including cataloguing, labelling, and shelving according to established procedures.
  • Maintain the organisation, tidiness, and aesthetic appeal of library shelves, displays, and all public areas.
  • Handle circulation tasks efficiently, including checking books in and out, managing reservations, and processing returns using our library system.
  • Respond to general enquiries in person, by phone, and via email with professionalism and excellent customer service.
  • Assist with the setup, promotion, and coordination of various library events, workshops, and engaging reading groups.
  • Support the broader library team with essential administrative duties as required, such as data entry, record keeping, and scheduling.
  • Monitor and replenish library supplies, reporting any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Help patrons with basic computer and internet access, including troubleshooting printing, scanning, and Wi-Fi connection issues.
  • Uphold and communicate library policies and procedures respectfully, ensuring a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for all visitors and staff.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage diverse audiences.
