Key Responsibilities
- Lead or contribute to the design and analysis of civil engineering projects, including infrastructure, transportation, and building structures, ensuring compliance with UK standards and regulations.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and other relevant engineering tools.
- Conduct site investigations, surveys, and assessments to gather data and inform design decisions, identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within financial parameters.
- Perform structural and hydrological calculations, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments.
- Oversee construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and health and safety protocols.
- Participate in tender processes, assisting with bid preparation and technical evaluations.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the professional development of the team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and structural analysis packages (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, Staad.Pro).
- Strong understanding of UK building codes, design standards, and relevant environmental regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, interpret technical drawings, and perform complex calculations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and a meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a specialized discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or working towards it.
