Job Description
Pescamar S.A. is actively seeking highly motivated, physically fit, and adaptable individuals to join our dynamic team as a Farm Worker/Fisherman, based in the vibrant coastal city of Maputo, Mozambique. This critical dual-role position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to our sustainable marine operations, blending vital land-based support tasks with challenging at-sea fishing duties. As a Farm Worker, your responsibilities will extend beyond general labor to include meticulous land-based activities crucial for supporting our extensive fishing and potential aquaculture ventures. This could involve the diligent maintenance and cleaning of aquaculture facilities, ensuring optimal conditions for marine life, preparing and repairing essential fishing equipment such as nets and traps, and managing inventory of supplies. You will also play a key role in the logistics chain, assisting with the careful loading and unloading of fresh catches and necessary supplies, as well as the initial processing and packaging of seafood products according to strict quality and hygiene standards. This segment of the role demands a keen eye for detail, robust organizational skills, and an unwavering commitment to operational efficiency and safety.
Transitioning to the Fisherman aspect of this role, you will become an integral part of our fishing fleet, embarking on expeditions into Mozambican waters. This requires not only physical stamina but also a foundational understanding of maritime operations and a readiness to work in often demanding and unpredictable marine environments. Your duties will encompass the preparation, deployment, and retrieval of various types of fishing gear, including nets and lines, as well as the skilled handling, sorting, and careful preservation of marine catches to ensure their peak freshness and quality upon return to shore. Collaboration and communication are paramount within the crew, and you will be expected to adhere rigorously to all international and national maritime safety regulations, as well as Pescamar’s comprehensive internal policies. The ideal candidate for this multifaceted role will demonstrate exceptional physical endurance, resilience in the face of adverse conditions, and an innate ability to perform under pressure while maintaining a consistent level of productivity and an absolute commitment to safety. We are looking for individuals who are versatile, quick learners, and possess a profound respect for the ocean and its valuable resources. Your contribution will be instrumental in reinforcing Pescamar’s mission to sustainably provide high-quality seafood, directly impacting our operational success and positively influencing the livelihoods within the communities we proudly serve. This is more than just employment; it is an invaluable chance to develop a lasting career within a respected Mozambican institution dedicated to its workforce, the environment, and the future of sustainable marine harvesting.
