Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport goods, materials, or personnel to various destinations within Pinetown and surrounding areas as per scheduled routes or urgent requests.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the company vehicle, ensuring it is in optimal working condition and reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies at all times to ensure a safe driving record.
- Assist with loading and unloading items as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, delivery times, and any incidents encountered during travel.
- Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with clients, colleagues, and the public.
- Keep the company vehicle clean and tidy, inside and out, on a regular basis.
- Manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines and navigate routes efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and team members regarding delivery status or any delays.
Required Skills
- Valid South African Driver's License (Code B/8)
- Clean driving record (no major infringements or accidents)
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
- Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to read maps and use GPS devices effectively
- Physical stamina to assist with loading/unloading and prolonged driving periods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or NQF Level 4 equivalent
- Familiarity with Pinetown and KwaZulu-Natal road networks
- Previous professional driving experience (e.g., volunteer, part-time delivery) is a plus but not essential
- First Aid certification
- Defensive driving course completion
