Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company-provided vehicles for the delivery of goods and transportation of personnel.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes to meet schedules and deadlines, optimizing for time and fuel efficiency.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, meticulously reporting any maintenance or repair issues promptly.
- Ensure company vehicles are kept clean, fueled, and in excellent operational condition at all times.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and operational expenses.
- Adhere strictly to all national and local traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
- Carefully load and unload items, ensuring proper handling, securing of cargo, and prevention of damage.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Represent the company professionally and courteously at all times during interactions with clients and the public.
- Assist with other ad-hoc tasks as required to support general logistics and operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or G preferred)
- Proven clean driving record with no major infringements or accidents
- Excellent knowledge of Karu, Abuja, and surrounding road networks
- Ability to safely operate various vehicle types (vans, trucks, sedans)
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques
- Good physical stamina for loading/unloading and prolonged periods of driving
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge (e.g., checking oil, water, tire pressure)
- Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and responsibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a logistics or delivery-specific role
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and mobile delivery applications
- Certification in defensive driving or advanced driving courses
- Ability to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues on the road
