Career.supersecrets is seeking a dedicated and energetic Barista to join our dynamic café team in Ipaja, Alimosho. As a Barista on our team, you will be the face of our café, responsible for upholding our high standards of quality and service. Your day will involve everything from expertly pulling espresso shots and steaming milk to perfection, to engaging with customers and maintaining a sparkling clean workspace. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other drinks according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other café equipment.
- Provide exceptional customer service, taking orders accurately, handling payments, and resolving customer inquiries with a positive attitude.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including workstations, seating areas, and equipment.
- Monitor and replenish inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies.
- Educate customers on menu items, coffee origins, and brewing methods.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the café.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role for at least 1 year.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for quality coffee.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and making change.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 kg.
- Strong team player with a positive and proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in food handling or hygiene.
- Knowledge of various coffee brewing methods and latte art techniques.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Ability to communicate in local languages (e.g., Yoruba) in addition to English.
- A genuine interest in coffee culture and continuous learning.
