Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vans to transport goods along designated routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any defects or maintenance needs.
- Load, unload, and secure cargo efficiently and safely, ensuring proper handling of all items.
- Verify accuracy of shipment contents against delivery manifests.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior and exterior.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally with clients.
- Complete delivery paperwork accurately and legibly, including logs and reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding route progress, delays, or issues.
- Follow delivery instructions and special handling requirements as needed.
- Assist with warehouse duties, such as sorting and organizing packages, when not on delivery routes.
Required Skills
- Valid state driver's license (Class C minimum)
- Clean driving record (MVR) for the past 3-5 years
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs consistently
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety checks
- Ability to navigate using GPS and read maps effectively
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous experience in a logistics, delivery, or courier role
- Familiarity with the Baltimore metropolitan area road network
