Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport company personnel, documents, and light goods to designated locations as per schedule.
- Adhere strictly to all national and local traffic laws, regulations, and company driving policies.
- Perform daily pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or issues promptly to management.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good operating condition of the company vehicle, including regular cleaning and ensuring fuel levels are adequate.
- Assist with loading and unloading of goods as required, ensuring items are secured safely during transit.
- Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery logs.
- Plan optimal routes to ensure timely arrivals and departures, taking into account traffic and road conditions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding delays, challenges, or unexpected situations.
- Exhibit professional conduct and a customer-service oriented attitude when interacting with colleagues and external contacts.
- Handle all tasks with integrity, discretion, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Required Skills
- Valid South African Driver's License (Code 8 / B or higher)
- Clean driving record (no major traffic violations in the past 3 years)
- Excellent knowledge of Benoni and surrounding Gauteng areas
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and defensive driving techniques
- Ability to perform basic vehicle checks and maintenance (tyre pressure, oil, water)
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to lift and carry light to moderately heavy items (up to 25kg)
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Grade 12)
- Previous experience in a driving role, even informal, demonstrating reliability
- First Aid certification
- Basic mechanical knowledge of vehicles
