Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health & Safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the industrial estate environment.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections of facilities, machinery, and work processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure strict adherence to national and international occupational health and safety regulations, including those set by OSHA, Factories Act, and relevant Nigerian agencies.
- Design and deliver engaging health and safety training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors, fostering a strong safety-conscious culture.
- Manage and maintain all H&S documentation, records, and reporting systems, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Advise management on health and safety best practices, emerging regulations, and technological advancements in safety equipment and procedures.
- Coordinate emergency response plans, drills, and crisis management protocols for the industrial estate.
- Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Collaborate with departmental heads to integrate safety measures into daily operations and project planning.
- Monitor environmental compliance and promote sustainable safety practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
- Competence in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
