Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate company vehicles (vans, trucks, etc.) for the transportation of goods and packages.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, navigating traffic and road conditions effectively.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or incidents promptly to management.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and transportation regulations.
- Represent the company professionally during all interactions with clients and the public.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other operational tasks as required, when not on active delivery routes.
- Ensure all delivery documentation is correctly completed and returned.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the vehicle at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class E or G Driver's License (or equivalent for heavy-duty vehicles, if applicable)
- Proven experience as a professional driver, preferably in logistics or delivery services.
- Excellent knowledge of Lagos road networks and traffic patterns.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Good physical condition and stamina for loading/unloading and prolonged driving.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and responsibility.
- Basic vehicle troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WAEC/NECO)
- Defensive driving certification or training.
- Experience with delivery management software or GPS devices.
- Familiarity with various types of cargo handling and securing techniques.
- Previous experience working for a recognized logistics firm in Lagos.
