Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process patient specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper identification and handling.
- Perform a wide range of laboratory tests, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and urinalysis, according to established protocols.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Document test results accurately and completely in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Perform quality control procedures and maintain records to ensure test accuracy and reliability.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP).
- Identify and troubleshoot technical problems with instruments or test results, escalating issues as necessary.
- Assist with inventory management of laboratory reagents and supplies.
- Participate in ongoing training and competency assessments to maintain proficiency.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and other healthcare professionals regarding lab results and specimen status.
