Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the conceptualisation, design, and development of civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, drainage systems, and structural foundations.
  • Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to inform design decisions and project planning.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations using industry-standard software.
  • Ensure all designs and projects comply with relevant local, national, and international engineering standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Collaborate with architects, planners, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and holistic project delivery.
  • Oversee construction activities, providing technical guidance, resolving on-site issues, and ensuring quality control.
  • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities, presenting project updates and obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the professional development of the team.
  • Implement sustainable engineering practices and innovative solutions to minimise environmental impact and optimise resource utilisation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in civil engineering design and project management.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and other engineering analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of UK building codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related specialisation.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE).
  • Experience with GIS software.
  • Prior experience working on infrastructure projects in Wales or the broader UK.
  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) methodologies.
