Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy goods vehicles (HGVs/LGVs) for the transportation of various goods.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring all equipment is in good working order and reporting any defects.
- Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently, ensuring proper securement and adherence to weight distribution guidelines.
- Plan and execute delivery routes efficiently, adhering to strict schedules and delivery deadlines.
- Comply with all UK road transport laws, regulations, and company policies, including tachograph rules and working hours directives.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, documentation, and communicate effectively with dispatch and customers.
- Adhere to health and safety standards at all times to prevent accidents and ensure personal and public safety.
Required Skills
- Valid UK HGV/LGV Class 1 (Category C+E) or Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.
- Current Driver CPC qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- A clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Demonstrable experience operating heavy goods vehicles, ideally within the UK or similar driving conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with international driving regulations or driving in metropolitan areas.
- Forklift certification or experience with other loading equipment.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of London and the surrounding areas.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
