Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet and seat guests, presenting menus and daily specials with enthusiasm and a comprehensive understanding.
- Accurately take food and beverage orders, offering insightful recommendations and answering questions about menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Deliver orders to tables promptly and efficiently, ensuring accuracy, proper presentation, and adherence to service standards.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond proactively to requests, ensuring a comfortable, personalized, and enjoyable dining experience from start to finish.
- Process payments accurately using point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle cash and credit card transactions responsibly and securely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including tables, chairs, and service stations, consistently adhering to strict health and safety standards.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other front-of-house team members to ensure seamless service flow and a harmonious work environment.
- Address guest concerns or complaints with professionalism, empathy, and grace, escalating complex issues to management when necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down dining areas for service, including polishing cutlery, folding napkins, restocking supplies, and ensuring readiness for peak hours.
- Adhere to all restaurant policies and procedures, including those related to food safety, hygiene, responsible alcohol service, and operational protocols.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Waiter/Waitress in a fast-paced restaurant setting (minimum 6 months).
- Exceptional customer service and strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask efficiently under pressure.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and making accurate change.
- Physical stamina to stand and walk for extended periods, and lift up to 10kg.
- Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training in hospitality.
- In-depth knowledge of local Rwandan cuisine and popular beverages.
- Prior experience with modern Point-of-Sale (POS) systems (e.g., Micros, Aloha, Toast).
- Certification in food handling or hospitality service training.
