Key Responsibilities
- Lead the system design, architecture, and specification of autonomous vehicle components and sub-systems.
- Develop and implement robust system requirements, ensuring traceability from high-level objectives to low-level design elements.
- Perform functional safety analysis (e.g., HAZOP, FMEA, FTA) and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262, SOTIF).
- Integrate and test various AV hardware and software components, including sensors (LiDAR, Radar, Camera), perception algorithms, localization, planning, and control systems.
- Develop and execute comprehensive validation and verification plans for autonomous systems, both in simulation and real-world environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex system issues and optimize performance.
- Maintain thorough documentation of system design, test results, and development processes.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in autonomous vehicle technology, regulatory landscape, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering for autonomous vehicles or complex embedded systems.
- Strong understanding of the entire autonomous vehicle stack, including perception, localization, mapping, planning, and control.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python.
- Experience with sensor fusion techniques and data processing from various automotive sensors.
- Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar robotics frameworks.
- Solid understanding of communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, etc.) and automotive architectures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and SOTIF (Safety of the Intended Functionality).
- Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., Carla, Gazebo, VTD) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques for autonomous driving applications.
- Experience with cloud platforms and scalable data processing for AV development.
- Prior experience working with regulatory bodies or contributing to policy development in the autonomous domain.
