As a Cargo Transit Driver, you will be the backbone of our transportation network, responsible for operating various types of commercial vehicles, including trucks and vans, to transport a diverse range of cargo. This position demands exceptional driving skills, a strong sense of responsibility, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex routes while adhering strictly to traffic regulations and company policies. Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles (vans, trucks) safely and efficiently for the transport of cargo.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, considering traffic and road conditions in Lagos.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting and reporting any mechanical issues or damage.
- Load, unload, and secure cargo properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit, adhering to safety protocols.
- Verify cargo against shipping documents, ensuring accuracy and obtaining necessary signatures upon delivery or pickup.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents encountered.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, transportation regulations, and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and clients regarding delivery status or potential delays.
- Handle minor roadside repairs or maintenance issues if necessary and safely.
- Represent the company professionally and courteously at all times.
Required Skills
