This role involves working directly with clients to assess their mental health needs, develop individualized treatment plans, and facilitate therapeutic interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine client needs and appropriate treatment approaches.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, setting measurable goals and objectives.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions using various therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy) under supervision.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records in compliance with ethical guidelines and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with supervising clinicians, peers, and external providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated client care.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision, team meetings, and professional development activities.
- Educate clients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and community resources.
- Adhere to all ethical codes, professional standards, and organizational policies related to client care and confidentiality.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field from an accredited program (or actively pursuing licensure).
- Strong foundational knowledge of mental health disorders, diagnostic criteria, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and empathy skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and confidential client records.
- A genuine passion for helping others and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications
- Provisional licensure (e.g., LPCC, LICSW, LMFT candidate) or eligibility to pursue licensure in Minnesota.
- Prior practicum or internship experience in a clinical mental health setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Experience working with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of local community mental health resources in Minneapolis/St. Paul.
