Career.supersecrets is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join a prominent industrial estate in the Central Area of Abuja. This is a pivotal role demanding a proactive approach to occupational safety, ensuring the well-being of all personnel, safeguarding assets, and maintaining strict adherence to national and international safety standards. We are looking for a leader in safety who can drive significant improvements and cultivate an unbreakable safety culture.
As a Health & Safety Officer, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and enforcing robust safety policies and procedures across various industrial operations within the estate. You will lead comprehensive safety training initiatives, empowering employees and contractors with the knowledge and skills necessary to foster a culture of vigilance, responsibility, and proactive risk management. This involves continuous education and practical demonstrations tailored to specific operational risks.
The successful candidate will be a guardian of safety regulations, responsible for conducting regular inspections, audits, and compliance checks to ensure all activities meet statutory requirements and company benchmarks. You will meticulously investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, determine root causes through detailed analysis, and recommend effective corrective and preventative actions to preclude recurrence. Furthermore, you will be at the forefront of managing emergency response plans, coordinating regular drills, and ensuring that all necessary equipment, protocols, and trained personnel are in place to handle unforeseen circumstances efficiently and effectively, minimizing potential harm and disruption.
