Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles (vans or light trucks) on designated routes throughout Potchefstroom and surrounding areas.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, promptly reporting any maintenance issues or concerns.
- Accurately and efficiently load and unload goods, ensuring all items are securely fastened and protected for transport.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and Department of Transportation regulations.
- Maintain meticulous delivery logs, records, and manifest documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, professionally addressing inquiries and representing the company positively.
- Follow established delivery schedules and routes, adjusting for unforeseen traffic or adverse weather conditions as needed.
- Handle cash or process electronic payments upon delivery, if applicable, and meticulously reconcile daily transactions.
- Keep the company vehicle clean, tidy, and organized, performing basic cleaning tasks regularly.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with dispatch and other team members regarding route status, challenges, and completion.
Required Skills
- Valid South African Code B (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 25kg regularly and safely.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling goods, paperwork, and transactions.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet delivery deadlines.
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
- Good verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong, proactive work ethic.
