Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in accordance with UK road traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Transport goods efficiently and punctually to designated locations across London and surrounding areas.
- Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, logbooks, and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Adhere to strict delivery schedules and communicate any potential delays effectively.
- Represent the company professionally and maintain excellent customer service standards during deliveries.
- Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and in good working order.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations, including working time directives and tachograph rules.
Required Skills
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) or Class 2 (Category C) driving licence.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC) / CPC.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven HGV driving experience.
- Excellent knowledge of UK road traffic regulations and driver hours.
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety and maintenance checks.
- Ability to navigate London's road network efficiently.
- Good communication skills and a professional demeanour.
- A clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific vehicle types (e.g., curtain-siders, refrigerated units).
- Experience in multi-drop deliveries within urban environments.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle mechanics for minor issue resolution.
- Previous experience operating within the logistics sector in London.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Hackney and wider London.
