Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vans safely and efficiently to transport goods to various destinations.
- Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all safety measures and operational requirements are met.
- Load and unload cargo carefully, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all local, state, and federal traffic laws, company policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, detailed vehicle maintenance records, and obtain clear proof of delivery documentation.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery status, potential delays, or any encountered issues.
- Plan and execute efficient routes to meet stringent delivery schedules and optimize fuel consumption.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries or concerns on-site professionally and courteously, representing the company with integrity.
- Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and proper maintenance of the assigned vehicle on a daily basis.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, incidents, accidents, or significant delays promptly and accurately to management.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no major infractions within the last 3-5 years)
- Proven ability to operate cargo vans safely and confidently in various traffic and weather conditions
- Strong geographical knowledge of Kansas City metropolitan area and surrounding regions
- Excellent time management, organizational, and route planning skills
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs unassisted and handle heavier items with assistance
