Are you a seasoned communications professional with a flair for strategic storytelling and reputation management? ANZ is seeking a dynamic and experienced Corporate Communications Manager to join our high-performing team in Melbourne. This pivotal role is central to shaping and protecting ANZ’s public image, ensuring consistent and compelling messaging across all platforms. You will be instrumental in developing and executing integrated communication strategies that support our business objectives, reinforce our brand values, and engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including media, employees, customers, and the broader community.

Working within a fast-paced and complex financial services environment, you will manage proactive and reactive media relations, lead internal communications initiatives, and contribute significantly to issues and crisis management. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive corporate communication strategies aligned with ANZ's business objectives and brand positioning.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, acting as a primary point of contact for media inquiries and proactive outreach.
  • Draft and edit high-quality communication materials, including press releases, media statements, executive speeches, internal announcements, and web content.
  • Lead and support internal communication initiatives to ensure employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with company strategy and values.
  • Proactively identify potential communication risks and develop robust issues management and crisis communication plans.
  • Provide expert communication advice and support to senior executives and business units across the organisation.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on media coverage and communication effectiveness, using insights to refine strategies.
  • Manage and oversee content creation for various corporate channels, including the company website, social media, and internal platforms.
  • Collaborate with marketing, investor relations, public affairs, and legal teams to ensure consistent messaging and integrated communication efforts.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in corporate communications, public relations, or media relations, preferably within a large, complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic communication plans.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to tailor messages for different audiences and channels.
  • Proven experience in media relations, including proactive pitching and reactive issues management.
  • Strong understanding of digital communication trends and platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • A strategic mindset with analytical capabilities and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Proficiency in using communication and media monitoring tools.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
