Key Responsibilities
- Undertake civil engineering design and analysis for various infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage, earthworks, and utilities.
- Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and reports using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroDrainage).
- Conduct site investigations, surveys, and assessments to inform design decisions and feasibility studies.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural engineers, environmental specialists, and urban planners.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and local authority regulations.
- Contribute to the preparation of tenders, bids, and project proposals.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and propose effective solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge within the team.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures on all projects.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
- Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in civil engineering design within a consultancy or contractor environment.
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, PDS, etc.).
- Solid understanding of relevant UK design codes, standards, and legislation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Working towards or already achieved Chartership (CEng/IEng) with a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE).
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modelling) workflows.
- Previous experience on projects within the Thames Valley region.
- Knowledge of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
