Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced SaaS Product Owner to join our dynamic product team in Amsterdam. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in defining, developing, and optimizing the software that powers Picnic’s unique operational ecosystem. While our core business is groceries, our backbone is a complex suite of internal software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions covering everything from warehouse automation and supply chain optimization to delivery routing and real-time operational insights. You will be responsible for understanding user needs (our internal teams), translating them into clear product requirements, and guiding development teams through the entire product lifecycle.
This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical acumen, capable of bridging the gap between business objectives and technical implementation. You’ll work closely with engineers, designers, and various operational stakeholders to build robust, scalable, and intuitive products that enhance efficiency, improve decision-making, and drive Picnic’s continued growth. Key Responsibilities
- Own the product backlog, prioritizing features and user stories based on business value, technical feasibility, and strategic objectives.
- Define clear and concise product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, designers, and other product owners to deliver high-quality software.
- Engage with internal stakeholders (e.g., Logistics, Operations, Supply Chain) to gather requirements, understand pain points, and align on solutions.
- Develop and maintain a compelling product roadmap that communicates the vision and strategy for your SaaS product area.
- Monitor product performance using key metrics, identify areas for improvement, and iterate on existing features.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Stay informed about industry best practices, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape within the SaaS domain.
- Ensure technical solutions align with overall architectural guidelines and scalability requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role in a software development environment.
- Proven experience working with SaaS products, preferably in logistics, e-commerce, or supply chain domains.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and product lifecycle management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements.
- Data-driven mindset with experience in product analytics and A/B testing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar agile certification.
- Experience with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Productboard).
- Familiarity with modern software development practices and technologies.
- Experience in a fast-growing scale-up or startup environment.
