As a Logistics Van Driver, you will be the face of our partners’ brands, responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of goods to various destinations within Chuka and surrounding areas. This role demands attention to detail, a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, and the ability to navigate local routes effectively. You will operate modern, well-maintained vehicles and be an integral part of a team that values precision and reliability. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a company van for the delivery and collection of goods within Chuka and designated routes.
- Ensure all deliveries are made on time and in excellent condition, adhering to planned schedules.
- Load and unload items carefully, verifying accuracy against delivery notes and manifests.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including logging mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance needs or issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and driving regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, representing the company with professionalism.
- Assist with warehouse duties, such as sorting and organizing packages, when not on delivery routes.
- Handle cash or payment transactions when required, ensuring proper reconciliation.
- Communicate effectively with the logistics coordinator regarding any delays, issues, or route changes.
Required Skills
- Valid Class BCE driving license (or equivalent for light commercial vehicles in Kenya).
- Clean driving record (minimal or no infractions).
- Ability to read maps and use GPS navigation systems effectively.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Physical fitness to lift and carry packages (up to 25 kg).
- A responsible and safety-conscious approach to driving.
- High level of reliability and punctuality.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Chuka and Tharaka-Nithi County road networks.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- A certificate in defensive driving.
- First Aid certification.
