Recruit Holdings is seeking an experienced and innovative Instructional Design Specialist to join our dynamic Learning & Development team in Tokyo. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing engaging and effective learning solutions for our diverse employee base across various business units. From crafting comprehensive e-learning modules to facilitating blended learning programs and workshops, your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing employee capabilities, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and supporting Recruit’s strategic objectives. We are looking for a creative thinker with a strong understanding of adult learning theories, instructional technologies, and a proven track record of transforming complex information into accessible and actionable learning content. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough learning needs analyses to identify performance gaps, define learning objectives, and recommend appropriate learning solutions.
  • Design and develop comprehensive instructional materials, including e-learning courses, instructor-led training (ILT) programs, blended learning solutions, job aids, simulations, and performance support tools.
  • Apply adult learning theories, instructional design principles (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and cognitive psychology to create engaging, effective, and measurable learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather content, validate instructional materials, and ensure accuracy, relevance, and cultural appropriateness.
  • Develop robust assessment strategies and evaluation methods to measure the effectiveness and impact of learning solutions on performance and business outcomes.
  • Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to quality standards, and budget compliance.
  • Stay abreast of new trends, technologies, and best practices in instructional design, e-learning, and adult education to continuously enhance our learning offerings.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on best practices in learning content development and delivery.
  • Utilize advanced authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar, to create interactive and visually appealing e-learning content.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in instructional design and development within a corporate or educational setting.
  • Proven ability to design and develop engaging and effective learning solutions across various modalities (e.g., e-learning, ILT, blended learning, microlearning).
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, Agile ID), and cognitive psychology.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Rise 360, Vyond).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
  • Ability to translate complex technical or business information into clear, concise, and engaging learning content for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • A portfolio demonstrating successful instructional design projects and learning solutions developed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field.
  • Business-level proficiency in Japanese (reading, writing, and speaking) to facilitate collaboration with local teams and content localization.
  • Experience working in a global or multicultural corporate environment, particularly within technology or HR sectors.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration and content deployment (e.g., Workday Learning, Cornerstone OnDemand).
  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator) and video editing software for enhancing learning visuals and media.
  • Certification in instructional design, project management (e.g., PMP), or related professional development programs.
