Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport a variety of packages, essential documents, and other items to their specified destinations within Busia and its surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to all assigned delivery schedules and critical deadlines, ensuring prompt and accurate pickups and drop-offs.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate records of all deliveries and collections, including obtaining necessary proof of delivery documentation.
- Operate and diligently maintain the company-provided motorcycle in excellent working condition, performing daily pre-trip checks and promptly reporting any mechanical faults or issues.
- Ensure strict adherence to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company safety protocols to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment.
- Represent the company and its clients with the utmost professionalism and courtesy, upholding a high standard of customer service during all interactions with clients and recipients.
- Proactively plan and optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency, minimize travel times, and reduce operational costs.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with the dispatch team regarding delivery status, potential delays, or any unforeseen issues encountered during routes.
- Handle all delivered items with extreme care, ensuring their security and integrity throughout the entire transportation process from pickup to delivery.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A (or equivalent) motorcycle driving license issued in Kenya with a demonstrably clean driving record.
- Minimum of 1 year of proven professional dispatch riding experience within Busia or a similar bustling urban environment.
- Excellent, in-depth knowledge of Busia town and its immediate environs, including major roads, shortcuts, and alternative routes.
- Ability to effectively read and interpret physical maps and proficiently utilize modern navigation applications (e.g., Google Maps).
- Demonstrated strong sense of responsibility, impeccable punctuality, and unwavering reliability.
- Excellent verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills for client interactions.
- Ability to work diligently and effectively independently, and to manage time efficiently under pressure.
- Basic mechanical knowledge sufficient for routine motorcycle checks and minor troubleshooting/maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) qualification or an equivalent academic achievement.
- Prior professional experience working specifically with logistics companies or e-commerce delivery platforms.
- Familiarity and practical experience with digital delivery tracking systems and handheld devices.
- Possession of a valid First Aid certification would be considered a significant advantage.
