This pivotal role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, industrial hazards common to manufacturing and logistics, and international best practices. As our Health & Safety Officer, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and continuously monitoring comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors within the estate. Your responsibilities will span across various aspects, from conducting thorough risk assessments, regular safety audits, and detailed inspections to developing and delivering engaging, impactful safety training programs tailored to different operational needs. This position demands a proactive and visionary individual who can not only identify potential risks and non-compliance issues but also propose innovative and effective mitigation strategies, ensuring strict adherence to both local Nigerian regulations and relevant international safety standards. You will be expected to meticulously investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, utilizing advanced analytical techniques to determine root causes and subsequently recommending and overseeing the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence. Furthermore, you will be responsible for meticulously maintaining accurate safety records, preparing comprehensive compliance reports for internal and external stakeholders, and diligently staying abreast of evolving safety legislation, industry trends, and technological advancements in H&S. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, a meticulous attention to detail, and the proven ability to influence positive safety behaviors and decision-making across diverse teams within a complex industrial setting. If you are passionate about safeguarding lives and property, and thrive in an environment where your expertise is not only valued but directly contributes to operational excellence and sustained success, we strongly encourage you to apply. This is a unique opportunity to shape the safety landscape of an industrial ecosystem, ensuring a secure and productive environment for everyone.

  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Prepare and submit statutory H&S reports, maintaining accurate records of safety performance, incidents, and training.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, emergency services, and other external stakeholders on health and safety issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety initiatives, driving continuous improvement in H&S performance.
  • Manage waste management protocols and environmental compliance within the estate, as applicable.
