Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Biotechnology Laboratory Technician to join our innovative R&D team at Takeda’s Shonan Health Innovation Park in Fujisawa, Japan. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in supporting our cutting-edge research and development efforts across various therapeutic areas. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of laboratory experiments, maintain laboratory equipment, and contribute to the overall efficiency and productivity of our research pipeline. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry experiments, including PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, ELISA, cell culture, and flow cytometry.
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and media according to established protocols.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately and thoroughly in electronic lab notebooks.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, preparing summaries and reports for research scientists.
  • Manage laboratory supplies and inventory, placing orders as needed to ensure smooth operation.
  • Adhere to strict safety guidelines, quality control standards (GLP/GMP principles where applicable), and institutional policies.
  • Contribute to the organization and maintenance of a clean and efficient laboratory environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, sharing knowledge and supporting project goals.
  • Troubleshoot experimental issues and develop solutions under supervision.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA/RNA extraction).
  • Experience with aseptic techniques and mammalian cell culture.
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Proficient in using laboratory software and data analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience with advanced techniques such as flow cytometry, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, or immunohistochemistry.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Basic proficiency in Japanese language (reading and speaking) for local communication.
  • Experience with automation systems or high-throughput screening.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex experimental problems.
