Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate assigned company vehicles for the delivery and pickup of goods, packages, and occasionally personnel.
- Efficiently plan and execute delivery routes, meticulously considering traffic conditions, time constraints, and urgent delivery priorities.
- Conduct thorough pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring the vehicle is always in optimal operational condition and promptly reporting any issues.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of delivery logs, vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and any service requirements.
- Properly load and unload goods, ensuring secure packaging, safe handling, and preventing damage during transit.
- Adhere strictly to all national and local traffic laws, company safety policies, and internal driving regulations at all times.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with dispatch, clients, and internal team members regarding delivery status, potential delays, or unforeseen circumstances.
- Handle all client interactions professionally, courteously, and efficiently during pickups and deliveries, representing the company positively.
- Immediately report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, incidents, or security concerns to management.
- Ensure the cleanliness and routine preventative maintenance of the assigned company vehicle, both interior and exterior.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigerian Driver's License (Class E or G preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of proven professional driving experience in logistics, delivery, or commercial transportation.
- Impeccable clean driving record with no history of major accidents or significant traffic violations.
- Extensive knowledge of Abuja road networks, routes, and surrounding areas.
- Strong navigational skills, including proficiency with GPS devices and mapping applications.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle checks and routine maintenance (e.g., tire pressure, oil levels, fluid checks).
- Good physical stamina and capability to lift, carry, and maneuver packages of varying weights.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor.
- High degree of punctuality, reliability, and strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) for communication and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate (SSCE), Ordinary National Diploma (OND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Bachelor of Science (BSc) equivalent.
- Possession of a defensive driving certification.
- Prior experience using specific delivery management software or route optimization tools.
- Familiarity with operating various vehicle types (e.g., vans, pickup trucks, light-duty trucks).
- Fluency in additional local Nigerian languages is an added advantage.
